Estão tão mal habituados Trabalhadores da função pública e polícias insultam deputados na Assembleia da República Dezenas de funcionários públicos, incluindo polícias à paisana, insultaram hoje o Governo a partir das galerias da Assembleia da República em protesto contra o congelamento da progressão automático das carreiras na Administração Pública. Já entrou tudo de férias para ir para a Assembleia protestar ou faltaram ? Se calhar são aqueles sindicalistas com que o Governo quer acabar... Fenprof apresenta queixa contra o Governo na Organização Internacional do Trabalho A federação acusa ainda a tutela de violar o direito à negociação colectiva, por não terem sido ouvidos os sindicatos em questões como o congelamento temporário das progressões na carreira ou a alteração das condições de aposentação. Sinceramente Sra. Ministra custava muito ouvir um "Não concordamos!"... e responder "Muito bem, registamos a vossa opinião, agora sff ponham-se na rua."

Beware! Skype steals your money.  I not an active Skype user, i confess. I some times use it to chat, and rarely make VoIP calls to "landline numbers". On January, i decided to try out the service. Bought a €10.00 credit. That was the minimum. Tried it out, great quality and that was it. Spent about €3.00. Today, some months later, and having used it in this past months only to "chat", i decided to make a VoIP call to a landline number. SkypeOut is Inactive Buy credit to activate SkypeOut. UH?!!? It must be a mistake, let's login on the site. Browse through the call list... it checked, but where were the remaining €7.00 ? Lets send an email complaining... Your support request was not submitted as there are some possible answers in our knowledgebase. Nice, lets see it. Credit in your SkypeOut balance remains active for 180 days after your last succesfully connected PSTN phone call. ? Credit balances on accounts with no activity during a 180 day period will be lost. What the fuck ?!?! I pre-pay a service that requires a minimum ammount and i have to spend it on a certain timeframe or else ?!?! Is this even legal ? No courtesy warning email ? Lesson learned. No "Skyping" in the near future. ps: Your blog sucks bigtime!

Market share Só hoje vi a notícia, mas algo me diz que isto(procurar por AEIOU) está directamente relacionado com isto. Aposto que foram os referrers aqui do blog...:-> Agora a sério, na notícia não diz mas a subida garantiu o segundo lugar, logo atrás do Sapo. E não, eu tb não percebo como é que isso é possível... mas eu tb não uso portais. Update: Outra referência no Ciberia... A maior subida face ao mês de Abril foi protagonizada pelo AEIOU, que aumentou 20,8 por cento, ultrapassando, pela primeira vez nos últimos 30 meses, o IOL e o Clix. Btw... ninguem me facilita este último estudo(subscribers only) da Marktest que fala nas audiências dos sites de viagem, televisão, portais, etc ? Pretty please... :-)

O que a malta quer é apoio Hoje, está toda a gente a linkar para um post do Paulo Querido sobre a conferência que a Microsoft vai cá realizar. Nem vou pegar nisso, era muito disparate para rebater... Muito melhor que tudo isso é uma frase numa resposta que ele dá a um dos comentários e que já não tem a ver com a conferência, mas sim com o sistema de blogs weblog.com.pt (já tinha dito que o domínio é bue apelativo?) Se está interessado em anunciar na minha rede e, com isso, dar apoio ao melhor e maior projecto independente de conteúdos de língua portuguesa, feito em Portugal, faça favor de me enviar um mail. Server trouble After a reboot, Mysql spit this out... Got error: 1030: Got error 127 from table handler when retrieving data from server Eeek... esta semana é época de fogos em casa. REPAIR TABLE 'items'; Number of rows changed from 23362 to 23361 Need to upgrade server. Too much load, too many reboots. Accident waiting to happen...

Side effects Today's lesson is... When qmail-queue.log reaches ~2Gb on a 2.4 kernel... you start getting 451 qq crashed (#4.3.0) in the SMTP dialog Which means... no mail delivery! Update: Do not forget, a # in a .qmail file it's not a bloody comment! That being said... all of today's email is lost. So if you sent me something, you know what to do... :-(

Odeo is up  This one slip through my radar... Odeo is open for business! First rant ? The 'Claim it(the podcast feed)!' feature... the method is soooo lame. I've been thinking about this subject for the past weeks, why don't they use the info already on the feed instead of asking the "owner" to include something in it ? I think this is pretty obvious, unless they found a problem with that... i doubt it.

That being said, there has always been an element of snobbery in the Perl market--I remember trying to persuade the authors of the second edition of Programming Perl, back in 1996, to pay more attention to the web. I was told that web programming was "trivial" and didn't require any special treatment. Of course, languages like PHP, which considered the web to be central, eventually came to occupy that niche. If book sales are any indicator, PHP is twice as popular as Perl. In terms of the competitive landscape among programming languages, in addition to PHP, Python has long been gaining on Perl. From about 1/6 the size of the Perl market when I first began tracking it, it's now about 2/3 the size of the Perl book market. Not that i prefer PHP over Perl, I don't... but I felt like linking snobbery to some of Pedro's posts. I won't. ;-)

Capital intelectual O que já se sabia tornou-se hoje "oficial". Do anúncio de lançamento uma frase fez-me um sorriso de orelha a orelha... Zeinal Bava lembrou que o investimento neste lançamento é mais de capital intelectual, não tendo quantificado. Simão Sabrosa ao ler isto não gostou e pediu um aumento do ordenado dizendo... "Que merda é esta ? Qualquer dia roubam-nos a expressão 'ordenado de jogador de futebol'"! ps: O do IOL é esperado para a semana.

Podcasting for the masses Yesterday we posted a TUAW poll with the following question: Do you listen to podcasts? As of this writing, 1,382 of you have responded. Here are the results so far: Thirty three percent of you responded, "Yes, I love them," twenty seven percent said "One or two," twenty four percent of you said you've "never" listened to a podcast and fifteen percent claimed that you "rarely" listen. I'm also reading "first person reports" that some "amateur podcasts" bandwidth consumption doubled since iTunes 4.9 launched. Can the 'podcasting' phenomenon boom like Blogs did ? I will be back at this in next coming days... ;-) In other news... Really, Odeo Syncr's only function is to download podcasts that you've subscribed to via the Odeo service and launch them in your audio player of choice. Since my audio player of choice is iTunes 4.9, which now has podcast ability, I think I just lost all use for this program. The Odeo client and some others have a problem at hand... premature death ? More Odeo screenshots here.
Typepad squatting Typepad Italy is go, but they hit a snag. The 'typepad.it' domain was taken... And... oh yeah, I know that the domain typepad.it is under severe squatting, unfortunately they don't want to give it/sell it back to us. It is one of the very few countries where it was already gone when I woke up. Why all the fuss with the 'typepad.it' when the Spanish version lunched under http://www.typepad.com/sitees/ and the 'typepad.es' domain is still up for grabs ? Don't they have €500 to grab the brand+domain ? Wierd...
Contra informação  Aprendam, o truque para desmontar um história é agarrarmos-nos a um único facto, só precisa de ser um. Um facto que o nosso interlocutor tenha deixado escapar no calor da discussão, um facto exagerado e que seja falso. Peguem por aí, e usem-no para desmentir tudo o resto. No caso, o número de elementos do "falso arrastão". Não eram uns exagerados 500 vinculados pela TVI e companhia, foram só 40/50. Isto faz-me pensar... os vídeos que a CP faz dos assaltos semanais na Linha de Sintra serão ilusão óptica ? Aposto que se arranja ali qualquer coisa no filme e se processa a CP por racismo. Andringa... mãos à obra! Já que não bato neles há meses, aproveito mais uma. À falta de foto... Depois de "Uma nova energia para a cidade" socialista, surgiu a hora da "Energia alternativa" bloquista. O BE pôs esta semana nas ruas os "out-doors" da candidatura de João Teixeira Lopes à presidência da Câmara do Porto, nos quais recicla a "energia" e passa uma mensagem anti-voto útil, piscando o olho ao eleitorado socialista. Será "estrume" o nome do meio do deputado João Teixeira Lopes ?
