Outsourcing email After years of fiddling with Qmail, Courier (can't remember the last time I've used POP3), LDAP and friends for my email needs, I'm finally throwing it all away. Well, not all at once but 80% of the email will now be outsourced.
Why ? Well, after seeing one of the home servers die on me last week, I thought... "I don't have the inclination or time for this crap any more. If it were the mail server to die instead of that useless one, I would spend several hours installing a new distro, going around dozens of config files, compiling and installing software, backing up data, etc, etc. In a word... nightmare".
Like someone said the other day... "Life is just too short to waste time dealing with all the crap that comes along with running your own mail server."
To the point, so I'll be also outsourcing all... well, most of my email (I have some kinky stuff still glued to qmail-ldap) to Fastmail (yes, that's a referrer link). The site looks crappy, but so far it rocks.

Tem 32 anos, é natural de Vila Nova de Famalicão mas mora no Porto desde que veio para a universidade... bem, morou. Agora já casado, está pela Maia. Anda pela internet há já uns 12 anos tendo trabalhado em vários projectos como foram o caso do Mail.pt ou no Sapo. Nos tempos livres vai tendo tempo para fazer umas brincadeiras, entre as quais o ITJobs o Lusocast o Hispanocast ou o Destakes
De resto já bloga há uns 7 anos apesar de ter perdido parte da "vida" numa mudança de hosting provider. Algumas restias ainda por aí andam... ah, e o email de contacto está no footer. Btw... job offers are welcome!
